(Some of) What we did this week…

(Some of) What we’re doing next week…

Photo of the week: What we got up to in London yesterday!

Yesterday Yosief (a Derby group member), Hannah and Celia made their way down to London to attend a special event in Deptford, celebrating the opening of Felix Project’s incredible new food hubs in Deptford and Merseyside.

We were invited to this event to represent Local Welcome as Coronation Food Project grant-holders, a grant programme by King Charles III Charitable Fund (KCCF).

In the run-up to the day, we were surprised (and a little overwhelmed!) to be informed that King Charles would be attending - a big secret we had to keep until after the event!

As well as having the rare opportunity to meet the King, we made the most of being able to speak to representatives from other organisations leading on important and innovative projects saving and distributing surplus food, and soaked up lots of inspiration as we heard about their visions and achievements.

We also enjoyed tucking into the refreshments and lunch which consisted entirely of surplus food - a wonderful demonstration of an organisation being values-led by Felix Project!

In case you’d like to hear more - KCCF have shared more details on the day here: https://www.kccf.org.uk/celebrating-the-first-anniversary-of-the-coronation-food-project/

If you’d like to see footage of us meeting the King - Yosief managed to track down this clip on YouTube! We make an appearance at 14:42: https://www.youtube.com/live/wQVrMKd1cHA?feature=shared&t=882

We weren’t allowed phones/camera during the event, but we did manage to take a couple of team Local Welcome photos afterwards!:
