(Some of) What we did this week…

📢 We’re setting up a lived experience advocate group (LEAG)

Our LEAG will represent members of Local Welcome groups who are refugees and people seeking sanctuary across the UK.

Our first goal is to work with our LEAG to help identify and learn about barriers that exist in gaining lived experience representation. In the longer-term, our ambition is to utilise this learning and work with our LEAG to improve lived experience representation throughout Local Welcome.

You can read more about the ‘what’ and the ‘why’ on our website here.

We’re still in the initial stages of setting out this work, so don’t have a particular ‘ask’ when it comes to your support as leaders yet. In the meantime, if you have any questions or ideas we’d love to hear them!

Photo of the week

Our wonderful Belfast group demonstrating that community and love wins as they tucked into lunch together at their meal this month.

It’s been a frightening week in Northern Ireland, with racist riots breaking out in Ballymena and other areas. Belfast, we’re keeping you in our thoughts, and sending our love and solidarity 💜
