We received the following from Leatherseller’s this week, outlining a valuable opportunity for students with care experience which we thought we’d share, in case it could be of value for anyone you know in or out of Local Welcome:
Leatherseller’s undergraduate Student Grants programme is open for applications for 2026-27. Students with care experience (defined broadly on our website here) that will be undertaking a full-time undergraduate course at a UK university in 2026-27 can apply for support of up to £5,000 a year for up to four years. All applications will be assessed on how well they meet our core, social mobility focused, criteria:- Additional funding would support you to make the most of studying your course at university- You don’t have access to that money otherwise- You are committed to making a positive impact on society in the future
Applications will close at 5pm on Thursday 5th March 2026. All the details, including a timeline of the process, and a word version of the application form and more, can be found on our website - **https://leathersellers.org/grant/education-student-grants/
Interested in finding out more for yourself or others you support?**
Join us online for a webinar on Thursday 20th January 2026 at 6pm. Leathersellers’ Head of Grants Natalia will be joined by Becca (from the Propel; project of Become) to share some information and tips about applying for this grant, and what other assistance and support you may be able to access to be at university.
