We have been joined by a new Member Support Officer this week called Humam (you might remember a couple of weeks ago that Niki, a service designer, has also joined our team). Welcome Humam! He’s already been along to 3 Local Welcome meals in Newham and Derby, and is quickly learning how our systems operate. You might be in contact with him during a Sunday on-call soon!
Last week we talked about our work designing a form and signup process for members, leaders and guests to sign up for Local Welcome meals, all in one place. One new development is that we are hoping to experiment more with translation tools in the form, so that there are ways for people to sign up even if they don’t have much English. Some of this work is being funded by the Heritage Lottery, who are interested in us expanding the diversity of the people involved in Local Welcome meals.
A little-known fact is that Local Welcome receive pro bono legal advice from Herbert Smith Freehills. Today we discovered that in the last financial year they devoted days and days of their time to supporting us developing policies and other legal documents - a gift worth £000s! This is really generous and makes a big difference to keeping our charity safe and secure for the future.
It’s also really sunny outside today - the British Summer does exist!
Here are some lovely sunflowers outside Elm Hall Methodist church in Liverpool, taken after the meal there:
Thank you for reading, and happy weekend!
