We took a moment to pause and reflect on how we’ve been finding supporting 10 groups after over a year of sticking to 7. Over the years, we’ve learned that the work we invest into supporting a group changes over time - the months running up to a first meal, and the next few meals after that are usually the most intensive for both you as leaders, and us as the support team!
Once those roots are firmly planted in the soil of a group’s community, things begin to flourish without us needing to do much more than our usual monthly support tasks, and answering the odd questions. Though, there will also be points in a group’s life where we’ll work more closely with you - whether that’s support finding a new venue, or helping to find and welcome new leaders.
For these reasons, we didn’t take the decision to grow so ambitiously lightly, and we’re pleased to report that things still feel manageable at the moment!
There’s just one area where our support needs to be adjusted and that’s our WhatsApp and email response times during the week. Now we have more leaders getting in touch with us, we’ll sometimes take longer to respond to you than we used to. Don’t be alarmed if you’ve been left on ‘read’ - your message will have been reviewed, and a note will have been made to get back to you. We’ll continue to respond promptly when we’re on-call during meals as always!
We’ll review whether anything more needs to be adjusted as the months go by, and we continue to settle into supporting more groups. We expect most of this work will just be the dull background stuff, with minimal changes to your experience as leaders.
We’re grateful for your support and understanding as we continue to learn how we might grow the Local Welcome movement across more towns and cities in the UK 😍
