(Some of) What we did this week…
- Supported our leaders in preparing for meals in Norwich and Belfast this weekend!
Norwich will be taking part in a Mosaic-making workshop led by Re-Future Collective, as part of our project with The National Lottery Heritage Fund 🧑🎨🥗
- Andrew completed a final draft of the annual report and sent it off to a graphic designer who will make it look beautiful 🧑💻
- Celia and Hannah gathered some case studies for Rhiannon to use in future funding applications. Do you have any interesting stories you’d like to share from your group? For example; seeing an increase in a member’s confidence, a group member helping to coordinate a recipe, another activity taking place alongside the cooking (e.g. dancing, games). - We started picking up plans for a Surplus Food Toolkit we’re planning to release in the handbook. Do you have any food hygiene experience, and a spare hour or so in the coming weeks? If so, we’d love to hear from you: [email protected] 🧑🍳
📢 Free Trauma Informed Training for Leaders!
We've organised for the amazing team at YMCA Leicestershire to provide all our leaders with a free online ****trauma informed training session.
If you attend, you'll leave the session with a basic understanding of:
- What trauma is, and its impact if left unresolved
- What being 'trauma informed' means
- How you can help contribute to creating a trauma informed environment
We've organised two of these sessions, so you can choose a date which suits you best:
- Wednesday 28 August - 5:30pm-7:30pm
- Wednesday 25 September - 5:30pm-7:30pm

Please note: This training session is not compulsory! But, we really recommend it - we attended one as a team and learned a lot of valuable information that’s been helpful to apply to our roles at Local Welcome, and even in our personal lives.
