How we’ve been feeling this week…

It would be wrong to write these weeknotes without pausing to express how upset and angry we’ve been feeling this week. We know many of you have been feeling similar emotions too.

It’s been particularly difficult hearing how the actions of the Far Right have impacted many of the incredible front-line organisations we’re partnered with across the UK. Halting their important work, and spreading fear within the communities they support.

Although the peaceful counter-protests across the many towns and cities that had been targeted last night brought a sense of hope and togetherness, it doesn’t take away from the stronger feelings of fear and threat that have been hatefully spread across the UK, directly impacting the communities of our groups and beyond.

There’s so much more work to be done, and we know that community is the answer.

We hope our meals (those which can safely go ahead) in the coming weeks will provide a much-needed source of safety, solidarity and welcome for all. To quote our Liverpool leaders on Sunday:

“This is the real Liverpool, people from all over the world, sitting down together and breaking bread!"

Please don’t hesitate to reach out for support and guidance in the coming weeks - our inboxes are open to all of you as always.

Love and solidarity,

Local Welcome - Celia, Andrew, Hannah and Rhiannon
